This beautiful Elizabethan family home located near Kendal is home to the world's oldest Topiary garden.

This beautiful Elizabethan family home located near Kendal is built around a 13th century Peel Tower. Its magnificent interior is filled with collections of furniture, china and other beautiful objects, while outside can be found the oldest topiary garden in the world. This unique collection and design of sculptured trees dating back from 1694 has remained largely unchanged to this day. Over 100 individual pieces of topiary, some over nine metres high, massive beech hedges and colourful seasonal bedding provide magnificent visual impact. Today is World Topiary Day so get inspired or even get your hands dirty and have a go yourself.
